Leonor Greyl has over 40 years in the hair business and used “natural” products back in 1968 before it was in fashion. Palm oil, magnolia and honey are some of the botanicals used in the products. She and her husband, who is a chemical engineer and self-professed ‘plant magician’, created the products in order to benefit the quality of the hair. Their company is known all over the globe for being the brand specialists in using high grade ingredients in all of their products. All ingredients are environmentally safe and are created with delicate aromas and plant extracts. Leonor’s daughter Caroline and husband Tom have brought Leonor Greyl into the 21st century having their products available in over four-hundred and fifty salons worldwide, sixty Sephoras, fifty department stores and in more than twenty countries. I had the pleasure of sampling three products and am now a fan! I sampled the Shampooing Crème Moelle de Bambou (Nourishing Shampoo for Long and Dry Hair), the Masque Fleurs de Jasmin (Conditioning Mask for All Hair Types) and the Serum de Soie Sublimateur (daily-use styling serum for all hair losses).
Shampooing Crème Moelle de Bambou ($41.00) smelled like roses and reminded me of Paris for a brief moment and being in the beautiful gardens. It is a creamy shampoo that over time is intended to restore and repair the hair to its healthiest condition. It contains natural active ingredients to help protect the hair such as carrot derivatives and wheat, but the special bamboo marrow ingredient helps regenerate the most damaged hair. Bamboo shoots are filled with a nourishing marrow which contains iron, starch, proteins, fat, calcium and hair strengthening group B vitamins. Please note this product is suitable for ALL types of hair prone to dryness, especially for long hair whose protective outer sheath is subject to damage with time and the effects of the environment.
The Masque Fleurs de Jasmin (Conditioning Mask for All Hair Types) ($59.00) felt like a drink of water for my hair — all of my tangles were gone within minutes of using the treatment. This is meant for use on towel dried hair after shampoo and is meant to be kept in for 10 minutes. This product has been honored in 1999 by Marie Claire magazine and was awarded the Prix d’Excellence Hors Categorie. In the Printemps department stores in France, it is known as one of the best haircare products and has a light fragrance of Indian Jasmine Flower.
The third product I sampled was the Serum de Soie Sublimateur (daily-use styling serum for all hair losses) ($43.00; pictured above) and it smelled delicious, too. I placed a dollop into my hand and spread throughout my damp hair, strand by strand. I then gently brushed it through my hair so that it was evenly distributed. I warmed my hair with a dryer and started my daily routine. I used it without blow drying as my hair is naturally wavy and can be curly when products are used correctly. This product allowed my hair to dry wavy with beautiful texture and shine. It also added smoothness to my waves and the aroma was delightful. It is a new product meant to detangle and add smoothness and shine. The serum facilitates blow drying while at the same time protecting hair. It helped define my curls and I liked the lightweight feel of this product. It also protects against UVA/UVAB rays which damage the nature of the natural hair fiber. There isn’t a greasy feel to this oil which I found impressive.
