Vidal Sasson is alive and well in the mass aisles of your local drugstore. There are 5 new products to keep your color locked in and looking glossy. His moniker in the ’80s was, “If you don’t look good, we don’t look good.” Well, that still holds true today with the Pro Series Collection. Everything from color and shampoo to hairspray and mega conditioner.

As you can see from my pictures, I took the plunge and made myself a redhead for St. Patrick’s Day. Have to live up to my Irish name after all. I used the Pro Series London Luxe shade of Merlot Vibrant Red. The London Luxe Permanent Hair Color shade range is not for the faint of heart. Fashionable shades seen on all the celebrities, such from Carnaby Copper to Deep Velvet Violet and Midnight Muse Blue.
I loved the fact that this formula didn’t run or made a mess all over my bathroom. And trust me, I have had some doozies! After coloring, my hair was vibrant and shiny. The only word of caution I have for this product: If you have a lot of thick hair, I would HIGHLY recommend that you purchase two boxes. One was not enough to coat all of my hair. But overall — take it from a gal who has been dying her hair since she was 12 — this is one of the best at-home color kits I have ever used!

One of the keys to maintaining beautiful color is to use a very good conditioner. Colorfinity 2 Minute Shade Precision Treatment (you can buy it separately; it’s also available in the kit) helps the client to recreate the feel of freshly-colored hair.
This amazing product contains durable silicone that hydrates each strand to mimic the layer during the coloring process, and restores the hair’s water-proofing properties.
To maintain color on a daily basis, the Vidal Sassoon Pro Series had two cleansing options: Colorfinity Shampoo/Conditioner and Colorfinity Smoothing Cleansing Conditioner. The first few days after you color are crucial, especially for redheads. The shampoo helps to reduce free radicals in the water, which can fade your shade. The Colorfinity Conditioner contains moisturizing agents to hep prevent water-fading and seal in color.
The second cleansing option: Colorfinity Smoothing Cleansing Conditioner, designed to be used alternatively with the Colorfinity Shampoo. This cleanser is a low-lathering formula to gently cleanse the hair while smoothing the hair cuticles. The reason VS recommends that you use this in conjunction with the shampoo is to cut back on the amount of water used to wash hair, thus resulting in longer-lasting color.
Well, after a few weeks of using these products I have to say they are as good as any salon brand. My hair is still vibrant and shiny! I have never gotten so many compliments on my hair before! My stylist couldn’t believe how vibrant and smooth my hair was. So, Vidal, you’re still looking good!
