Activated charcoal has hit the ground running and became quite the trend in the beauty community the last couple of years. Today I’ll be sharing some amazing products with you from Blaq. You can check them out at www.Blaq.co.

Blaq is an Australian skincare brand. Blaq products are built around the core ingredient, activated charcoal, and are formulated to solve skin problems. You know, evidence of late-nights and city-living, perhaps one too many wines. The products seek to detoxify and nurture your skin back to a healthy state. The Blaq line is suitable for all skin types – from dry and dehydrated to oily and congested.

The Blaq Meteor Shower Scrub ($24.95) caught my eye. It’s the first body scrub I’ve ever seen in a resealable pouch. The Meteor Shower Scrub is filled with fragments of matter from the cosmos, along with some of Blaq’s favorite natural ingredients, including activated charcoal, to give customers an otherworldly scrub experience everybody will love.

The Meteor Shower Scrub is not only superiorly novel and fun to use, it’s 100% safe and tested. It will leave your skin feeling smooth and supple with an iridescent look. Blaq states the scrub is not targeted at one specific gender but rather is perfect for anyone who wants their skin to be in luminous, peak form.

I really enjoy this scrub. It’s more of a dry scrub compared to other scrubs I’ve tried which tend to be of a creamier consistency. It’s very gritty so it actually feels like it’s exfoliating and sloughing off dead skin cells. When using the scrub, it does turn the areas you are applying it to gray. No worries though – it rinses clean as you rub the scrub into the skin and let the water run over the area. (The product did not stain my bath tub whatsoever, for those of you who were wondering.) The scent is rather unisex to me. It’s a fresh and natural type of scent. It doesn’t smell overly feminine and the scent does linger a bit on the skin. I did notice that the product gives a luminescence to the skin after you dry off. It’s almost like little tiny particles of shimmer, though not a lot. Just enough to give you a healthy glow.

Also, something super fun about this product is that it has a unique code on the back of the pouch. You can plug this code in on the Blaq website and find out exactly where your scrub fell from. I plugged my code (75768) in and found out that my landing site was Canyon Diablo, Arizona.

The Blaq Mask Tube ($29.00) is an activated charcoal mask designed to target toxins and draw out impurities instantly. This product is perfect for those of us who suffer from blackheads and are looking for a way to get rid of them!

This is a peel off mask and it is black. So, it’s important to start with fresh, clean skin that has just been washed and dried. You want your pores to be open. Apply an even layer to your problem areas but be sure to avoid your lips, hairline, and eyebrows. Wait 15-20 minutes for the mask to dry. Then, starting at the bottom outer edge, slowly peel off the mask in an upward direction.

I’ve used other activated charcoal masks and I’ve got to say that this one was much more powerful than the others I’ve personally tried. The scent is again, fresh and natural, as is the Meteor Shower Scrub. If you’re sensitive to scents, I don’t think either of these will bother you at all. I applied the mask on freshly cleansed and dried skin and left it on for 20 minutes. For reference, my skin type is oily and acne-prone.

When I personally use peel masks, after they’ve dried, I make a huge smile a few times and it starts to loosen up the mask around the mouth/chin area. Then, I peel from the bottom up as directed. The mask doesn’t really hurt to peel off. (Not sure if anyone has saw the videos going viral on the internet of these type of masks.) You might feel a slight discomfort if you’re super sensitive. However, the results are 100% worth it. You can literally see the gunk that the mask has removed from your pores on the mask. My pores looked super clean and my skin felt smooth.

I used the mask on my entire face but you can certainly limit this to problem prone areas. I did notice my face was a little flushed in certain areas after removing the mask. (The Blaq website indicates that may happen.) Not to worry though because the redness subsided within 20 minutes or so. Also, the mask easily washes off with water if you accidentally get it on your clothes or too close to your hairline/eyebrows. It also doesn’t stain so that’s a plus.

Overall, I’m thoroughly pleased with these two products and I will be using the Blaq mask as my replacement to my other go-to activated charcoal peel mask! I’m definitely interested to try out more products from the Blaq line.
