Just in time for the London 2012 Summer Olympics, butter London introduces the commemorative Olympic Heavy Medal Trio ($36.00), which is a set of three metallic nail lacquers that come in an adorable Union Jack adorned box. I used two coats of each, adding my own base and top coats. Here’s what I found:
The Full Monty is a full-on molten gold. It’s described as, “always classy, never brassy” and indeed this was true. If gold can be said to be subtle, this is it. I liked the coverage and color very much. Diamond Geezer is a shiny silver color. Again, it’s a slightly muted tone of the usual bling-bling color, but it gives nails a nice summery lift. The Old Bill is a burnished bronze with a beautiful antique patina. I think this one was my favorites — rich, yet subtle, and a bit more unusual than the gold or silver.
The bottom line on these, ladies: great overall in terms of both color and coverage. I also loved the fact that butter LONDON products are formulated without the use of harmful ingredients like formaldehyde, toluene, DBP or parabens. And butter LONDON was the first company to sell non-toxic nail lacquer in the United States. The wear is average (mine chipped within two days, but that’s always the case with me) and a set would also make a great hostess gift this summer, especially if you’re Hamptons or Cape Cod bound.
