The new anti-aging foundation from Sisley, Skinleya, is also a skin enhancing foundation. Launching in September, this new Lift Foundation is my first foray into Sisley’s color cosmetics line.
The foundation positions itself as both an anti aging skincare and makeup resource, and is incredibly lightweight, just like souffle. Non greasy and non comedogenic, his is a highly sensory experience in the world of makeup, restoring freshness and radiance and evening out the complexion and spots.
This particular formula is enriched with extract of cherry blossom and tourmaline microcrystals, as well as the trio of Sisley’s active ingredients we mentioned in our earlier post on the Black Rose Mask (Alkekengi Calyx, Rhodochrosite, Oats, Willow and Einkorn Wheat) that stimulates collagen and help the dermal fibers become much stronger. The formula also contains a new silicone gum that provides a silky-glide texture for an easy application.
The Lift Foundation also comes with an elegant brush that is a safe way to apply the product in case you don’t like getting it on your fingers and clothes. I found the brush to be extremely gentle — no bristly stuff on your face — and a very luxurious experience in and of itself. It is the perfect way to blend the foundation all over your face, and over the cheekbones, chin and forehead.
As for the foundation, it goes on smoothly and requires very little blending. On first glance, the color of the product made me wonder if it would blend into my skin tone without leaving a tell-tale residue, and it really did. I haven’t shown you the Before/ After photos of my face, but every spot, scar and imperfection was easily masked and this is not a heavyweight foundation (I couldn’t classify it as a sheer foundation but really a lightweight foundation). Does it give you full coverage? Absolutely. It doesn’t leave your skin greasy, but rather, radiant, because of its Tourmaline microcrystals as well as the soft-focus microspheres that cause light to reflect and also mask blemishes.
This foundation markets itself as a high-precision foundation, and it completely is. It wears beautifully as a second skin, and the only thing you’ll need is a sun protection when you venture out. There are also nine shades for all skin tones, which is a big plus coming from a Parisian line (so yes, darker-skinned women, rejoice!). From 00 Light Linen to 60 Spicy, I am impressed at the gamut of shades that look appropriate for women with several undertone colors.
It also comes beautifully packaged in an elegant 30 ml jar with a matt-lacquered bowl and a white lid. In short, you feel like royalty when opening and using this product. Our verdict? For this highly sensorial experience and a crossroad between makeup and skincare, this foundation may just well be worth the togs of $190. I know you’re probably thinking, “well forget it, I can get a foundation at my local drugstore for less,” but this foundation is extraordinary. I’ve never seen coverage like this, and yet such a lightweight look and feel.
This is what I would recommend: go to your local Sisley counter (Neiman Marcus has one), and try a sample for size. I promise you, you’ll be hooked. I can’t think of my makeup routine without this foundation now.
The packaging is luxurious with gold foil.
Based on the review above, and the photos, what are your thoughts on this? Drop me a comment below. For $190, you truly get what you pay for, and I am a firm believer that your skin is an investment.
