For spring, Annick Goutal brings us “LeMimosa,” the the latest addition to a long line of soliflore (single note) fragrances by the venerable French fragrance house.
“Le Mimosa” celebrates the mimosa flower, one that blooms only for a short time each Spring . This new perfume, using a mimosa absolute from Grasse, France, is perfumers Camille Goutal and Isabelle Doyen’s way of preserving that beautiful scent year round.
Despite being called a soliflore however, there are a few other notes floating around in “Le Mimosa” that make it extra special and not one note in any way.
Iris, and a touch of anise have been added to make it just a little unique. That anise note comes through plenty but in no way diminishes the florals. It simply tempers them from being too sweet and gives even more of a fresh spring air to the perfume.
The iris adds a little powder and a coolness making this a cool floral . The drydown brings a bit of white musks and sandalwood for grounding.
Le Mimosa is feminine but not cloying , it’s a breeze through a garden strewn with not just beautiful flowers but herbs and trees swaying above.
Annick Goutal Le Mimosa will be on counters March 1st and will sell for $ 80.00 for 1.7 oz.
Since you are all probably too eager for spring to come (it’s around the corner, promise!), would you indulge in “Le Mimosa” over brunch?
