Oh my, how I do love these new waterproof lip colors! They last and last and are reminiscent of L’Oréal’s Infallible collection — as they are meant to stay on until YOU choose to take it off. Almandine which I sampled would not even budge! I see this as a beauty trend as I recently reviewed Make Up For Ever’s Aqua Rouge collection that is very similar in its wearability options. The gloss is applied after one minute and your lipstick comes off on nothing! No smudges or lipstick marks left on anyone’s collar for certain.
The entire Fall 2012 collection from Chanel was created by Peter Philips, Creative Director of Chanel Makeup, to be as classic as the little black dress, the two-toned shoe, the quilted handbag and other iconic essentials originally created by Coco Chanel. It’s colors range from classic pinks and natural beiges for the face and lips to fuchsia and modern black on the nails.
Chanel Illuminating Powder with Shimmer (not sampled but shown in picture; $65.00) is a highlighting face powder that was created to resemble sequins. There is a duo of lighter and darker beige shades that blend together for a subtle iridescent complexion, extending a summer glow; Ombre Essentielle Soft Touch Eyeshadow ($28.50) was created to be sheer with long-lasting effects due to its new formulation as the hues go from warm peach to silvery gray. Complice is sampled and its color is quite soft with a subtle shimmer to it. There is also Eclaire, Furtif and Infini in this line; Joues Contraste Powder Blush ($43.00) is a sheer, radiant rose color that gives your cheeks a natural blush; Rouge Coco Hydrating Creme Lip Colour ($32.50) is a lustrous lip shade of beige-rose and brown-plum shine; Rouge Coco Shine Hydrating Sheer Lipshine ($32.50) is sampled in Chic which is a very sheer beige — there is also a color called Tender Pink; Rouge Allure Extrait De Gloss ($32.00) delivers pure shine, as I sampled Troublant which is a true rose-brown and there is also a color called Caprice which is a delicate pink.
With Gloss
The Rouge Double Intensite Ultra Wear Lip Color ($34.00), to me, was the pièce de résistance since after just one minute of applying the red-plum color, I applied the gloss and it stayed on throughout the entire day! I even did the tissue test and nothing came off. Now I see this trend of 8-hour, 12-hour, 24-hour long lasting makeup to be most helpful as who wants to keep on reapplying their cosmetics all day? It’s not only a time saver, but it’s also PRACTICAL when put to use. Gone are the days of creased eyeshadow clinging to your upper lids, spotty mascara beneath your eyes and feathered lipstick and ‘hello’ to one-step application… and boy, have I been waiting for you?!
