You’ve heard the old mantra, try it before you buy it. And while this is probably a smart way to
approach the car buying experience, it may not be the wisest bit of advice when it comes to your body. Dubbed the “lunchtime lift,” the 24-hour boob job just arrived on the market and it’s got everyone talking.
Dr. Norman Rowe, a plastic surgeon based in Manhattan, New York, has developed a technique designed to give women an instant lift in cup sizes — and you can even do it on your lunch break. The procedure, which takes only 20-minutes and costs a whopping $2,500-$3,500, involves using a needle to insert a saline solution directly into the breast tissue. The saline solution is absorbed gradually through the bloodstream and creates a perky bosom for about 24-hours.

Originally developed so patients could get a feel for how they would look with implants, people
are now requesting this procedure for a quick pick-me-up. You can wake up with an A cup, visit your plastic surgeon, and walk out minutes later with a full C cup thanks to the new procedure. Perhaps you have an important event coming up, or you want to look your best on your wedding day — or maybe you’ve always wanted a boob job but have been too afraid to go ahead with it. The 24-hour boob job provides you with an instant lift — temporarily, of course.
But with all the buzz surrounding the new procedure, has anyone stopped to evaluate the consequences?
Experts are concerned that this new fad could cause deleterious medical conditions. Patients are at risk of developing hematomas – blood pooling under the skin – which is always a danger when injecting something into your body. Your body is also at risk for infection and bruising as a result of the procedure.

Dr. Karlinsky, Chief Surgeon at New Look New Life Surgical Arts, states that the “24 hour breast augmentation is not a procedure that is worthwhile for patients to undergo. The potential risks and complications as well as the cost of the procedure, in my opinion, make it unacceptable.”
It seems many patients are using this procedure multiple times, whether they’re going on vacation, attending a dinner party or wanting to impress their significant other. Repeat offenders of the “lunchtime lift” are at increased risk of damaging their breast tissue permanently. Inserting saline directly into breast tissue could prove to be harmful to the breasts, causing stretching. In some cases, this could lead to sagging breasts.
When it comes to your body, it’s better to be safe than sorry, so be sure to do your own research before you jump on the next trend.
