Have you heard of “normcore”? It’s the new trend taking over the fashion crowd. This extreme dress-down style is what Vogue.com describes as “dressing so discreetly it’s an artform in its own right.” Throw on a plain white tee, old-school GAP jeans and some non-designer sneakers (or Birkenstocks) and you’ve nailed the normcore look.

And now there’s a way to take this trend and incorporate it into a cool hairstyle. The braided chignon, was first seen at the S/S 15 Alice + Olivia presentation and created by Schwarzkopf Professional Brand Ambassador and Hair Lead Michael Duenas.
To get this look, it’s easier than you think:
Step 1: Apply OSiS + Grip Extreme Hold Mousse, $19 at Ulta.com, to dry locks for extra control and shine.
Step 2: Secure hair in a middle parted, low ponytail, tucking the scarf into the elastic.
Step 3: Braid hair to the ends, and wrap braid into a tight bun. Secure with large pins.
Step 4: Finish and polish the look with OSiS + Elastic Flexible Hold Hairspray, $19 at Ulta.com.
With a combination of conditioning agents, the Grip Extreme Hold Mousse provides long lasting maximum hold, while the Flexible Hold Spray contains resins that protect against the humid weather to keep your hair in place. This braided style is the most wearable and coolest way to tap into the Normcore trend.
