We still can’t get over how lovely Nicole Kidman’s hair looked at the 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival! Her demure, slightly messy, braided chignon is all we can think about.
So, we got in touch with hairstylist and owner/creative director of Wonderland Beauty Parlor Michael Angelo and Devin Toth, celebrity hairstylist and director of education for the Ted Gibson Salon, to give us the steps and tools it takes to recreate this look at home.
“It’s so nice to see Nicole Kidman wearing her hair in a more relaxed, natural manner,” said Angelo.
– “It looks to me like her hair has been blown out into a beachy wave with a side part and roughed up with texturizing products like Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray ($39.00) and Rough Luxury Soft Molding Paste ($35.00).
– I’d section off the front and sides to start, and focus on getting the crown and back sections braided and twisted into a loose, Pre-Raphaelite ponytail.”

Devin Toth suggests roughing up the 100% dry hair, “and repeating those steps a few times to really create soft, sexy, big hair texture. The key to this soft hairstyle is texture.”
– “Create a shape by taking the hair you just back-brushed and gently braid it and twist that braid into a messy chignon.
– Add drama to the fringe by lightly curling it with a tiny curling iron away from the face, and then finish the style by generously spritzing it with Ted Gibson Beautiful Hold Hairspray ($19.95) to add longevity to the sexy, soft hairstyle.”
