As the clock ticks away to another year and a “new” beginning, we turn our attention to all that celeb buzz that went on in 2011 –especially when it comes to one of our obsessions–hair. 2011 rocked it like Beyonce, especially in the department of hair trends.

There were some good styles, no doubt, and some sightly below “C” grade. The celeb hair trends spanned from the slightly more elaborate runway look to the everyday. But we saw two distinct hair trends rock the boat in 2011…take a peek below:

BRAIDS

Braids went from minimal to extravagant and were seen everywhere from award shows to the Met Ball.

Anne Hathaway

Anne Hathaway’s gathering of braids shows you how easy it is to transform a simple hairstyle to a more elegant up do (think low chignon with an edge).

Beyonce

Other stars, like Beyonce rocked the more classic braid. Low, loose and off to one side, her look was romantic yet fashion forward.

Rihanna

So, rock your holiday hair with some braids, people!

PIXIE

The second fabulous trend of 2011 was the pixie transformation. Many celebs jumped on the pixie bandwagon.

Michelle Williams

The chic Michelle Williams was one of the first to take the plunge and don a short Mia Farrow-esque style.

A more edgy take is Ginnifer Goodwin’s grown out pixie. Her cut makes a statement but the versatility in styling truly cements its place on top.
