Nail Expert and Custom Nail Solutions President Katie Saxton has the scoop on ghoulishly glam nail designs that will complete your Halloween look.
While MARS the Salon Nail Art Artist and Owner Hiroko Fujikawa has created 3 adorably spooky looks. Not feeling the nail art? KB Shimmer has released two glittery shades whether you’re feeling witchy or want a punch of orange. Read on to see more!
Spooky Staples: (shown above) Black and orange are the staple colors for Halloween, so feel free to jazz up your nails with either or both of these hues! Choose a solid black or solid orange mani, or alternate between orange and black for each nail. You can also use toothpicks to draw Halloween designs like little white ghosts and black skulls on each nail!
Zombified and Fabulous: If you plan to dress like a walker from The Walking Dead this Halloween, look the part with creepy zombie nails! Have gray polish, olive green polish and a matte top coat on-hand, as well as a makeup sponge.
Dip the sponge in the gray polish and dab on each nail. Let dry, then dip the sponge in the olive polish to create little dark green “moss” splotches on each nail. Once dry, add a clear matte top coat to complete the look!
Wicked Water Marble: Steal the spotlight at your spooktacular soiree with this show-stopping design! Start off with a cup of room temperature water, a bottle of orange polish, a bottle of black polish and a clear top coat, as well as tape and several toothpicks.
Place tape around the edge of the first nail, covering the cuticles. Add 2 drops of orange to the water and let spread, then a drop of black polish in the middle of the orange polish, and add another drop of orange in the middle of the black.
Then, take a toothpick and drag the edges of the polish to the center of the circle. Press your nail into the design, use a toothpick to scrape excess polish away from the edges of the nail, and take the nail out of the water. Then remove the tape and let dry. Use a toothpick to clear the polish from the top of the water, and repeat the process with the rest of the nails. Don’t forget a glossy clear top coat!
Spooky Spider Webs: Spider webs are always a staple Halloween decoration, as seen by the fake cobwebs and spiders that cover houses in neighborhoods everywhere. Celebrate this tradition by decorating your nails with a spooky and fun spider web manicure!
To do this design, start with a bottle of black polish, a bottle of metallic silver polish, a clear top coat, and toothpicks. Paint each nail black and let dry, then, dip a toothpick in metallic silver polish and draw silver “rays” coming out of the center of each nail to the edges, and add swooping “spider web” lines between each of the rays. Let dry and voilà! A scary and stylish spider web manicure that is sure to turn heads wherever you go this Halloween!
Freaky Frankensteins: This mani is sure to help you win “Best Costume” this year! Have on-hand green polish, black polish, white polish and a clear top coat, as well as several toothpicks.
Paint each nail green and let dry, then use a toothpick to draw black “hair” on the tips of each nail. Use another toothpick to draw little white “eyes” below the “hair” on each nail.
Let dry and use a toothpick to add little black “pupils” in each of the white dots. Finally, use a toothpick to draw black “stitched mouths” below the eyes on each nail. Add more black stitches here and there on the nails, and add a final clear top coat to complete the look!
Cute Candy Corn Mani: No Halloween is complete without yummy candy corn! Celebrate this delicious tradition with a cute candy corn nail design!
Paint a horizontal orange stripe at the base of each nail and let dry, add a yellow horizontal stripe above each orange stripe and let dry, and then paint the tips of your nails white. Don’t forget to add a glossy clear top coat!
Jumpy Jack-O-Lantern Mani: This manicure will ensure your nails are ready for all your spooky festivities! To do this ghoulishly glam design, paint all of your nails orange and let dry, then, using a toothpick, paint a spooky black Jack-O-Lantern “face” on each nail.
Make sure each face is different, and feel free to add the word “BOO” on a few nails! Complete the look with a clear top coat.
