We think this year is most definitely the year of the lash and the year of the nail. There have been so many terrific nail lacquers and innovations, from Dior’s “Gris Montaigne” to the Sally Hansen nail strips that it’s hard to keep up with the trends.
Take Chanel for example. Did they simply have to tease us with that glittery Peridot nail lacquer for Fall 2011? It’s enigmatic, strong, powerful. We can’t wait to try our bottle once it arrives.
BeautyStat’s first nail competition is open across several categories:
Nail Art: If you’re submitting a picture of nail art, please tell us all the colors you used for the nail lacquer and art, as well as how many coats it took.
Strips, Incocco: We won’t accept Minx entries (because it can only be done by a professional at a salon) but we’ll definitely take Sally Hansen nail strips or Incocco appliques and the like. We love to see shiny nails! Tell us if you used a base and top coat.
Nail Lacquers: We just want to see if you have a steady hand and an eye for detail. Pick a bottle and swipe. It’s easy, ladies!
All entries must be original works (if you got your nails done at the salon, our spies will report back). The judge of this competition is celebrity nail stylist, TracyLee (who also has the @LuxebyTracylee handle on Twitter). She will pick out the top ten finalists and then it’s up to you to vote!
TracyLee’s career in Beauty, started as a teenager creating intricate designs on her own nails. Since those beginnings she has become a business owner, educator, creative consultant and trend setter within the industry. A favorite choice for both editors and bloggers, vivacious and articulate TracyLee lends her expertise working as an editorial manicurist as well as speaking from an educator’s perspective in numerous blog features and in magazines such as American Salon and Glamour.
TracyLee specializes in “Green” , Eco-Friendly Nail Services, but also provides clients many options in looks, with both the latest techniques in extensions (by request), , nail film applications, such as Minx, and custom nail art, but shares the same enthusiasm for giving traditional services. She also offers men’s nail grooming.
As a freelance nail stylist, TracyLee brings fashion experience to clients through her diversification of technique in nail styling. She draws inspiration from the designers themselves, editorial seasons, fashion and film history. TracyLee has keyed NYFW shows for Vassilios Kostetsos, Honor, as well as Alice + Olivia. She also has done Guest Appearances for the retail powerhouses of Opening Ceremony, Urban Outfitters and Madewell, all while maintaining a clientele of NYC Socialites, Designers, Editors, and Celebrities including, Natalie Portman, Uma Thurman, M.I.A, Nicki Minaj, & Olivia Wilde, to name a few.
Editorial clients include Lucky, Marie Claire, GenLux, Modern Luxury, Numero, Elle, Rolling Stone, Harper’s Bazaar,Vanity Fair and Vogue.
