The latest CC cream has just hit the drugstore shelves: Hard Candy’s CC Correction Crème with SPF 15 ($8.00; available this month at Wal-Mart). This all-in-one CC cream balances your complexion resulting in a soft, natural finish. Special light optic pearls neutralize the undertones of one’s skin, leaving skin looking flawless.
The 5 results in one include:
– Color corrects skintone
– Neutralizes undertones
– brightens complexions
– Evens skin texture
– Oil-Free
What really intrigued me about this particular CC cream was the “neutralizing undertones” part. At first, I was surprised to swatch the Light shade (available in four shades: Fair, Light, Medium and Dark), which ended up being a little too dark for my skintone — much more like the Lily Herbceuticals CC Cream I reviewed before. It is great for more olive complexions, with plenty of yellow based undertones. The Fair shade first came out a bit pinky, even though I have a combination of both yellow and pink undertones.
I let the color sink into my skin (it is always best to allow the CC cream to become aquainted with your natural skin coloring). As I gently blended it out, I found the pink undertones of the light, easily blendable cream to match my unique coloring.
I think this CC cream has very light coverage, and does a good job at counteracting any redness in the face. It does have a distinct sunscreen smell due to it containing SPF 15, including the sunscreen ingredients octinoxate and octisalate.
Some other special ingredients include:
Isostearyl Neopentanoate – A light, silky ester that improves product playtime for a more natural looking finish
Polymethyl Methacrylate – A texture enhancer and soft focus powder that give a soft skin feel and matte application
Micronized Pigments – Provide a tint of color to even out skin tone
Color Correcting Pearls – Help even out skintone and add radiance
D-Panthenol – Hydrates and nourishes the skin
Prorevive Blemish Balm Complex – An all-in-one product consisting of lactobacillus bulgaricus/white willow bark extract ferment filtrate that provides anti-aging, conditioning, moisturizing, anti-wrinkle, protecting and antioxidant properties
The only thing I dislike about this product is its packaging: the light pink and white lettering is really cute and simple, but, the squeeze tube design makes it a bit messy, no matter how many times you clean it. Maybe if there was a plastic nozzle attachment that caught the product before you squeezed it out it would be better. But, for the price, it is a nice CC cream to give a try.
Editor’s Note: As the product hits the drugstore shelves, there will be a modification to some of the shades (as informed to us by the Hardy Candy PR team: Medium and Dark will stay the same; Fair will become Light, and Light will be an entirely new shade.
