Sonia Kashuk is a high-quality, affordable brand of cosmetics (and other beauty-related items) that are sold at Target. Today, I’m here to share with you some new and amazing products from this line!
The first product I was able to test out: the 2-piece Brush With Fame Hair Brush Set ($24.99) that comes with one larger, standard size hair brush (the red brush) and one smaller, travel-size hair brush (the purple one) with the Sonia Kashuk name on the handle of the brushes.
This is a limited-edition brush set with bristles that are a slightly different in texture than what I am used to, in regard to standard hair brushes; however, I really like them.
I find it does an amazing job at detangling my hair (which is long!) right after I get out of the shower. These brushes are also great when utilizing a little bit of hairspray or dry shampoo, in order to get a light tease at the crown of your head!
What girl doesn’t love a little bit of color on her lips for summer? And if it comes in a moisturizing tinted lip balm form, even better! I was able to try the Sonia Kashuk Moisture Luxe Tinted Lip Balm ($8.99) in the shade 42 Hint Of Pink.
I think this is a beautiful mid-toned pink, which would be flattering on a lot of different skintones. More so, this is more sheer than what the color appears, but the great thing about it is that you can build up the color fairly easily with just a few more swipes of the product.
The product is extremely moisturizing (as advertised) and doesn’t cause your lips to feel dry once it wears off. The color actually stains your lips for quite some time after the balm/glossiness of the product wears off.
The Sonia Kashuk brush sets that I was fortunate enough to try out are nothing short of AMAZING. I have never used a Sonia Kashuk makeup brush, but these are equal in quality to some of my higher end makeup brushes! I absolutely love them!
The bristles on ALL of the brushes I have tried are super-soft and do not shed at all while using them. I noticed VERY slight shedding after the first wash and that was only from one of the brushes. No glue came off through the bristles or anything after they had completely dried.
The Part of the Tribe 6-Piece Brush Set ($24.99) was inspired by the hand-woven textiles spotted at Moroccan markets during Sonia‘s trip. The brushes come with chic, brown-and-white, tribal-printed handles.
The brushes that you will receive in this set (along with the cute travel case) are as follows: a Domed Powder Brush, a Synthetic Angled Foundation/Concealer Brush, a Duo Fiber Blending Brush, an Eyeshadow Brush, a Definition Brush and a Lash/Brow Groomer.
I absolutely love the Domed Powder Brush! I have been using that brush for my bronzer to contour my face. It’s the perfect size. The brush doesn’t pick up too much pigment and applies product evenly.
I wasn’t a fan of the Synthetic Angled Foundation/Concealer Brush too much, but the bristles are super-soft nonetheless. The shape of the brush and the fact that it is slightly flimsy makes it difficult to use with foundation and/or concealer.
The Lash/Brow Groomer is your standard tool of its kind. Lastly, I am in love with the Duo Fiber Blending Brush, the Eyeshadow Brush and the Definition Brush.
The Definition Brush is great to do extremely detailed work. The Eyeshadow Brush is a larger than your standard sized eyeshadow brush. If you have small lids, it might be too large for your eyes.
The Duo Fiber Blending Brush is, in my opinion, more suited for crease work. It’s very dense and great for packing color into the crease; I would much rather use a fluffy blush for my blending work.
Another brush that I tried out was the Limited Edition Brush Couture Kabuki ($12.99). This is a little bit smaller than your standard kabuki brush, but is extremely soft. It is still usable as a kabuki in order to set your liquid foundation with a setting powder.
It has a very cute, green, floral pattern on the handle with gold trimming under the brush itself and also at the bottom; the Sonia Kashuk name is imprinted on the gold trim. I think this brush is worth every penny!
The Limited Edition Brush Couture 4-Piece Brush Set ($14.99) are short-handled, decorative brushes. In this set comes a Duo Fiber Multipurpose Brush, a Medium Eyeshadow Brush, a Domed Crease Brush and an Angled Liner Brush.
The Duo Fiber Multipurpose Brush is EXTREMELY soft. I think it’s a little too flimsy to use with liquid foundation (in my opinion), but I loved using this with highlighter or even with blush.
I think it is great to use with an extremely pigmented blush, because the bristles won’t pick up too much of the product and will distribute it evenly (as well as lightly) across the cheeks.
The Domed Crease Brush is rather stiff with a slight bend to it, and would be great for doing detailed crease work; the Medium Eyeshadow Brush is great for packing color onto the lid. Lastly, the Angled Liner Brush is great for gel or cream eyeliner.
I also liked using this brush to fill in my eyebrows with my favorite brow powder! It’s just the perfect size and it is rather stiff, so the bristles don’t fray out, which is great because you want a nice, crisp line when it comes to your eyeliner!
The last brush set I tried out from Sonia Kashuk was the Limited Edition Brush Couture 5-Piece Brush Set ($14.99). It has a dotted pattern with varying shades of purple and aqua blue.
In this set you receive: a Powder Brush, a Synthetic Concealer/Foundation Brush, a Blending Brush, an Angled Contour Crease Brush and a Flat Shader Brush.
The Powder Brush is amazing to apply blush, but you most certainly can also use this as a brush to set your foundation. The Synthetic Concealer/Foundation Brush is great for just that — if you like that style of brush to apply foundation and concealer.
The Blending Blush is super-long and fluffy, with a lot of give to it, so the brush really does the work when it comes to blending out harsh lines when working on any eye look.
The Flat Shader Brush is great for applying color to the lower lash line, smudging eyeshadow or even eyeliner along the upper lid.
Lastly, the Angled Contour Crease Brush is the perfect brush for nose contouring! But, it would also work in the crease of the eye as well.
I saved the best for last — my personal favorite out of the Sonia Kashuk bunch was the Limited Edition Moroccan Dunes Eyeshadow Palette ($16.99) and comes with four shades of eyeshadow that are shimmery and chrome-inspired.
The eyeshadows are super-pigmented and create an amazing look!
Unfortunately, one of the shades in my palette had fallen out (see the photograph) and created a bit of a shimmery mess, but I pushed it back into the slot. It doesn’t stay, but I can deal with it because the colors are so beautiful.
This will give you an amazing neutral eye! You are sure to get compliments when you wear this quad. There are two lighter, neutral shades: a cool tone and a warmer one.
A taupe color is included as well as a deeper brown. The eyeshadows have great pigment and last all day without wearing, creasing or fading. I’m curious to see if there are any more palettes like this.
