But, alas, it’s all too often the case that recreating said looks are anything but easy. Couture makeup is applied by professionals using the very best products available, and trying to mimic their looks takes time and patience.

However, this isn’t to say that creating your own runway look is impossible. In fact, many couture beauty trends are designed to be worn on the catwalks, the workplace and for a fun night out!
Look 1: Fresh Faced
This look has been around for a long time, but is currently making another showing in the collections of designers such as Rag & Bone (seen above). Use a textured foundation to create a clean base, then highlight cheekbones using shimmer and – a trick of professionals such as Aaron De Mey – lip balm!

Look 2: Crimson Lips
Red lips have never gone out of style, but the shade and texture of the red has varied wildly. AW13 is set to see the return of the crimson lip – this time paired with black-tipped scarlet fingernails as seen in Andrew Gallimore’s lookbook for MAC.

TIP: Team red lips and sooty nails with sultry kohl-rimmed eyes, heavy eyebrows and messy updos for a totally on-trend look.
Look 3: ‘60s Eye Flicks

The runways have been full of vintage looks, from the fabulous ‘40s right through to the grungy ‘90s. This season, it’s all about the thick, black, wing-tipped eyes of the ‘60s (as seen on Anna Sui’s models), which can be easily achieved with a good over-the-counter liquid eyeliner.
All that’s needed is a steady hand, Q-tips and moisturizer to clean up any ragged edges. This is a clean, sexy look which anyone can try.
