According to Amarté, this intriguing Asian line began as a skincare initiative within a Korean dermatology clinic in 1994. One of the clinic’s nursing staff members developed an interest in producing skincare products to address patient concerns.
The Amarté experience is described as “an everyday indulgence.” It is meant to be a customizable regimen, and as such, is extremely flexible. Conceptually, the Amarté skincare regimen consists of four distinct but overlapping components: cleansing, moisturization, rejuvenation and protection.
I was sent the 5-piece Heart & Seoul Collection ($150.00) to try, but you can purchase these items separately as well.
First up was the Daily Wonder Foaming Cleanser ($40.00). Daily Wonder Cleansing Foam is a, “whipped-to-perfection cleanser designed to lift away impurities and brighten skin without drying.”
Ideal for normal to oily skin, Daily Wonder Cleansing Foam is said to, “cleanse deeply while ActivElements calm and comfort oily and acne-prone complexions. I have to say it performed as described; this is possibly the best cleanser I have ever used — so lush and creamy but effective, too! My skin felt and looked great afterward. Expensive — but a keeper!
Next up was the Aqua Veil Hydrator ($65.00) — a pure hydration serum that, “boasts deep, cucumber-infused hydration to optimize your skin’s ability to absorb and retain moisture, bestowing a veil of toned, youthful, healthy skin that is provocatively touchable. Any skin type can soak up the love with Aqua Veil Hydrator and relish the smoothing benefits of this ultra-light gel.”
I used the serum morning and night, as directed, and I loved this too! The cucumber smell is so fresh and invigorating and the texture is sublime—absorbs in a flash! I am switching to this for the rest of the summer.
Then, I tried the HydroLift Cream ($59.00) that is said to, “smooth the fine lines and wrinkles that distract from your best features. Moisture and comfort combine in a silky formula while retinol and adenosine even out texture and tone for a flawless face. Caviar extract and acacia collagen deeply hydrate to plump the skin and give you firm, smooth, ageless radiance.”
Hmm… I found this formula too gummy and sticky for my taste; did not absorb well. Maybe better try it again come winter. And I did not notice any difference in the fine line/wrinkle department.
EyeConic® Eye Cream ($51.00) was next. It contains, “an amazing 3.8% stabilized retinol in a gentle and elegant formulation.” This concentration of enhanced activity retinol may provide more retinoid benefits than the strongest version Retin, with an incredible use experience, minimal irritation potential and an outstanding post-application aesthetic.”
I liked this one too — very rich and nourishing for the delicate, line-prone area of the face. Did not notice any radical results but will keep using.
Last but not least is the Natural Finish BB Cream ($49.00). I was given both Natural and Light. I have tried BB creams before and did not understand all the fuss, but, let me say that my eyes have been opened and I now see the light!
This sheer, finely pigmented beauty balm provided uniform coverage without caking or flaking. Plus, it has a SPF 36, which always important to me. One amazing tube did the job of sun protector, moisturizer, primer and color-corrector — talk about one-stop shopping! Love it in both tones — lighter for winter, darker for now. Going to stock up on this one!
Amarté products will be available at fine retailers soon, but for now you can purchase them online at www.amartecosmetics.com.
