Everyone is about the bling on the red carpet. If you didn’t notice Eva Mendes’ sculptural blue necklace that had everyone “oohing” and “aahing” you are either:
a) Color Blind
b) Without cable
c) Were watching “24” instead of the Globes last night. Tsk, tsk.
Ms. Mendes wore a white Christian Dior gown that looked straight out of the pages of an Audrey Hepburn & Givenchy collaboration, and and an extraordinary statement necklace from the Van Cleef & Arpels Private collection. Circa 1974 “Panka” necklace features 132 blue turquoise stones and 36.06 carats of diamonds set in 18K yellow gold. A pair of “Lotus” earrings in diamonds set in 18k white gold, as well as a “Zip Paris Medallion” ring with baguette, marquise, oval and round diamonds set in 18k white gold completed the look.
A few other notables also sported Van Cleef & Arpels for the evening.
Anne Hathaway, nominee in the category of Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama, for her starring role in “Rachel Getting Married” wore a navy strapless Armani Privé gown with a unique collection of Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry including: circa 1935 sapphire and diamond earrings set in platinum from the Van Cleef & Arpels Private Collection, as well as the “Bagan” ring from the Pierres de Caractères Collection featuring a 13.08 carat emerald-cut violet sapphire set with diamonds in 18k white gold.
Hathaway was mentioned as the “winner” of the Golden Globes Best Actress category in an internet glitch a few days before the awards ceremony, but did not emerge the winner.
January Jones, nominee in the category of Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Drama, for her role in AMC’s critically acclaimed “Mad Men.” Ms. Jones chose a stunning Spring 2009 Versace dress with a selection from the Van Cleef & Arpels Private collection including: 1937 “Ludo Hexagone” diamond bracelet set in platinum, and a pair of Asscher cut diamond studs set in platinum totaling 3.17 carats.
Olivia Wilde dazzled in a divine pale pink Reem Acra dress and matching “Socrate” earclips and cocktail ring with round diamonds set in 18k white gold.
Dev Patel, lead actor in “Slumdog Millionaire”, which was nominated for 4 Golden Globes, wore a pair of iconic Alhambra cufflinks in 18k white gold set with onyx to complement his Calvin Klein black tuxedo.
