Sonia Kashuk is the “high-end” brand of the drugstore cosmetic scene, so to speak. Sold exclusively at Target, Sonia Kashuk is offering some amazing products coming out for the Fall 2013 season.
To start, Sonia Kashuk has always offered some amazing nail polishes – some of my favorite. This fall collection has several new additions to their nail polish line. The two shades that I was able to try were Wicked Attraction (a deep blackened red) and Tumultuous Teal (a sophisticated blue-green).
Let me start first by explaining how truly pigmented these polishes are! The photograph of my nails has two coats, but opacity can be reached with just one. I noticed minimal chipping around 6 to 7 days after putting the polish on with Seche Vite top coat.
I think these colors are perfect for the fall, and I can’t wait to peruse my local Target to find other colors from this collection! These polishes retail for $4.79 a piece, which makes them a steal!
One thing I must add though is that the Tumultuous Teal shade did stain my nails and left them in a greenish blue sort of shade. I would highly recommend using a base coat (something that I did not do) before you apply the polish in order to hopefully prevent staining! Nevertheless, these nail polishes are amazing!
The next thing I was pretty excited about was the Sonia Kashuk Limited Edition Couture Kabuki Brush ($12.99). I absolutely love Sonia Kashuk brushes; I was privileged to try some last time I reviewed her products, and this brush is of the same fabulous quality!
It’s a large and rather sense duo fiber brush. It is perfect for stippling on foundation, buffing or blending powder and other cream type products, such as blush.
The Brush Couture Kabuki has a very cute design and the brush is of super high quality. The
bristles do not stain after use with cream products like other brands. The bristles are very soft and I do not experience much shedding at all. If any, it is minimal and usually after the first time that you wash the brush.
This brush applies foundation evenly and smoothly across your face, leaving an airbrushed finish. I think this brush might be perfect for applying cream blushes (though I do not wear them myself), but I think it would be too dense to use for application of any highlighters.
Another product that I adore from Sonia Kashuk is the Eyeshadow Duos ($7.29). More specifically, the one I tried called Neutral Ground.
I was a little disappointed with the pigmentation of these shadows: they are not super-pigmented, but they do not lack pigment either, if that makes any sense.
The browns are more cool-toned, but the deeper brown does not get as deep as I would like it to — no matter how much I built it up or considering the brush I used. (The gold on the inner corner is not from this duo.) Regardless, Sonia Kashuk still has some amazing eyeshadows and this duo would be perfect for a teen who is just starting to wear makeup!
Lastly, I was able to test out some of the new makeup cases/trains that Sonia Kashuk has come out with. Let me tell you that I love different ideas for makeup organization, and I think these bags are not only wonderfully designed but are truly convenient!
There are three different styles that I am sharing with you today. The first is the Travel Duffle
($39.99), the Triple Train Case ($19.99) and the Prism Print.
The Prism Print bag is absolutely great! You would be surprised to find out how many items you can actually fit inside of it. As you can see, I was able to fit a couple of foundations, plenty of lipsticks and lipgloss, along with some makeup brushes and lip liners. The bag was still not filled to max capacity.
The compartments are made of a clear plastic material, but there is one that is mesh which I think works perfectly for your makeup brushes. This bag snaps shut securely, so your items do not fall out.
The Triple Train Case (in Fur Print) comes in more than one pattern. This has a bottom compartment and a
top compartment.
The only problem is that it does not have too much depth so you really have to be careful what you are stuffing in here, otherwise it will not zip.
However, if you have a small makeup collection, this would be great to place on your bathroom counter. It would definitely keep you organized.
The Floral Print Duffle is gorgeous! I placed several different makeup products in the bag, but I did not fill the this travel duffle to max capacity (obviously because of its depth!). I wanted you all to see how much room you really get with this duffle. I love the cute floral design and I think it’s very feminine and girly.
This could be as a bag to take to the beach or to go traveling. A full bottle of hairspray would fit perfectly in the bag! It has one large compartment and then the sides have two zippers with which you could put smaller items in.
If I had to pick a favorite out of all three, I would pick the Duffle because of its versatility. Of course, it depends on what you are looking for in a travel bag.
If you are looking for something to transport makeup, I would recommend the Prism Print bag. But, if you have a small makeup collection and are just looking for something to store makeup in on a daily basis, I would recommend the Triple Train Case.
I invite you to check out some of Sonia Kashuk’s new products at Target! The Fall 2013 Collection so far is looking to be some of the highest quality drugstore cosmetic items you can buy! As always, you can browse the products on their official website at www.soniakashuk.com, or check them out on www.target.com if there is not a Target store near you.
