Most Requested Celebrity Hairstyles and Cuts: A Q&A With The Posh Salon of Los Angeles

Feeling a bit out of the loop when it comes to knowing what’s hot and what’s not in the world of celebrity hair trends? We catch up with Curt Darling of Le Posh Salon in Los Angeles, which caters to celebrities and consumers who want the very best. For appointments, be sure to call 609.DRY.CUT1 (609.379.2881) or email appt@CurtDarling.com.

Q: What styles are you currently seeing in celebrities that you admire?

Curt Darling: There are so many!

A. Love Victoria Beckham’s rich color with soft layers and chunky, textured cut.

B. Kim Kardashian’s ‘come hither’ center-parted , Brigitte Bardot-inspired updo is a personal favorite and a big request in the salon.

C. Ginnifer Goodwin’s androgynous punk cut is hip and sexy! Uh huh : )

D. Ashley Green’s classic, long wavy layers are broken up well with pale beige highlights.

E. Halie Berry’s short jagged unkempt cut makes you want to grab it! Short hair is never masculine with this much texture.

Q. What are frequently asked for hair treatments/ cuts in your salon?

Treatments: Masques are the big request! Oribe mask for beautiful color is our most popular after color treatment and is also great as a prep before bleaching. The acai deep conditioning mask by Brazilian Blowout is our second most popular treatment and an excellent moisturizing reconstructor.

Cuts: our clients are of 3 categories; Some like close cropped sides and backs with choppy longer lengths on top and some with playful quiffs. Others like mid length structured shapes with beveled edges and subtle plays of asymmetry. Our long hair clients like outline shapes that are not too hard or clean, and long layers and subtle texturizing in the crown for fullness.

Q. Name a few tips for women to save money in between hair cuts or coloring treatments.

Generally I don’t encourage clients to cut their own hair but for the brave I will show them how to twist sections of hair and trim the ends. The twisting makes for a softer more forgiving line when the hair unwinds.

Q. What are the best ways to get SHINE for your hair?

Oribe’s shampoo and conditioner for brilliance and shine is very popular along with 24 k gold pomade especially for red heads. Acai shine & shield spray by Brazilian Blowout is another big seller.

Q. Do you ever advocate kitchen remedies for hair? If so, what?

For those of you that may give your self a color touch up now and again at home, Feria by L’Oreal is pretty user friendly. To prevent getting tint stains on your skin you can put a little Vaseline around hairline before coloring and if you missed a bit, cigarette ashes mixed with water as a paste is an excellent stain remover.

Q. Any new trends you see emerging in the hairstyle world? If so, what are they?

The Le Posh artistic team is presently working on our fall winter collection inspired by Glamour and Grunge. Cleaner outline shapes laced with irregularity(such as architect Frank Gehry) that encourage movement such as 40’s waves. With long messy textured layers and long chunky fringes.
