The beauty look for the show Nicholas K was extremely bohemian chic with lots of emphasis on the natural look. The hair was left loose with just a hint of sophistication, explains Zahir Ziani. Hence, the side braid. “We are really looking for the chic bohemian look; we are bringing some sophistication, a natural, sexy look, but not “glam,” explains Ziani. “The braid creates dimension to the texture.”

Zahir used Kerastase products to create a shiny texture to the hair. “We add a little bit of spray to the hair, and to add some movement for that femme fatale look. Some of the women will incorporate the scarf on her hair; it’s like the “woman in the desert” look.” That in essence is the look of Nicholas K — the “woman in the desert” look — a tough, almost military vibe with a sense of femininity and bohemian chic.

The nails were painted a gossamer, almost diaphanous color in light lavender and looked almost like a veil.

“The Nicholas K playgirl, does what she wants, she has a little bit of edge to her, she’s got confidence and is not afraid to express herself,” says Ebbin about the look. Hence the makeup palette with coral lips, and a double density mascara to really make the eyes pop. The makeup resulted in a “downtown chic with a little bit of military edge” look. The really thick double density mascara makes everything –green eyes, blue eyes– pop. “It also goes well with anything, and the coral makeup creates a healthy glow and a luminosity,” says Ebbin. As for the male models, Ebbin found that a lot of the male models wanted to look healthy, so all he did was clean up their eyes, took away a little bit of the darkness. While Ebbin didn’t give the men’s skin a “glow” per se, he really wanted them to look “healthy, with a nice tan.”
