Review, Before/After Photos: How To Color At-Home Using LUXEBLEND Crème Hair Colour & Pequi Glossing Serum

Review, Before/After Photos: How To Color At-Home LUXEBLEND Crème Hair Colour with Pequi Glossing Serum

I’ll admit: it took me over 5 months staring at the box to finally try it. After spending an average of three hundred dollars each month at a local salon for a single process plus half a head of highlights and a blow dry, I decided today was the day I was going to try the LUXEBLEND Crème Hair Colour with Pequi Glossing Serum ($30.00) in Light Blonde — as a root touch-up. I have to save money, and being a blonde is a hard thing to do by yourself… or at least I had thought so before trying this color system.

No, I do not look like I went to Serge Normant but yes, my gray is 100% fully covered; my hair texture is sleek and smooth and using the brush made me feel like I had more control than using just the bottle alone. It had been at least ten years since I colored my own hair, so you can imagine how apprehensive I was before doing this. Three years ago I went blonde as it was on my bucket list, but I really had no idea how much upkeep it would entail! I was a medium to dark brunette before (although I was flaming red in college and nearly black in my late 20’s and 30’s). Beauty I know, hair I do not. I always tell people when they talk hair lingo that I am clueless, yet if they want to talk to me about ingredients in a BB or CC cream — I am all for it.

I chose the brush technique as the bottle was too scary to me and I felt like I had more control with the brush. Root touch-up requires the product to stay on for 20 minutes. After reading the instruction booklet, I put on the provided gloves and went to work. After mixing three products together, I then whipped them until the solution was creamy. I then dipped the brush and started with a single section straight down the middle of my hair where I had almost an inch of gray. I then worked my way around my full head without any drips or stains and then left the product in my hair for 20 minutes.

After my timer rang, I did place some more color throughout my head and then proceeded to rinse my hair until the water was clear. I then used shampoo and conditioner as instructed, added a few drops of the Pequi Glossing Serum provided (which is used to give the hair a boost of shine and helps prevent color from fading) and then dried and styled my hair.

My roots are a bit golden yet I know that the color shall soften a bit with time. I know I am going to have to find a way to keep my highlights in so that is why I opted for the root touch-up and not the full head just in case it needed to be color-corrected at a salon if the process went awry. Yet, it didn’t! It did the job and now I can use a professional blow-out to feel all glamorous again! As I said before, I know nothing about hair, nor how to style it on my own.
