The CEW Beauty Awards Product Demonstration, held on March 11 in NYC, brought together more than 2200 industry insiders to review over 630 beauty products, the largest to date, all competing for the coveted CEW seal. The Product Demonstration serves as a kickoff to the 2015 Insider’s Choice Beauty Awards, which are renowned for identifying the top-tier beauty products of the year. Cosmetic Executive Women, Inc. (CEW) is a nonprofit professional organization with more than 6,000 members, both men and women, from over 1,700 companies in the beauty and related industries.
“The CEW Beauty Awards are the ultimate consumer guide to the top beauty products and innovations of the year,” said Carlotta Jacobson, President of CEW. “At this year’s Product Demonstration, more than 630 brands will showcase their groundbreaking products to other beauty industry insiders in a bid to win the prestigious CEW seal. We are delighted to have so many products competing for top honors in 2015.”

Of the 37 total award categories, CEW members vote to select the finalists in 33 categories. After the finalists are announced on April 3rd, CEW’s Board of Governors along with select industry experts will vote to determine the winners, who will be announced at the Beauty Awards Luncheon May 15 at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City. Winners will be judged based on innovation, delivery system and packaging.
CEW is expanding its entry categories by adding the Hair Tools category, which will showcase any tools that aid the preparation and styling of hair, such as blow dryers, curling irons, flat irons, brushes and other like products.
New this year, CEW will highlight the importance of trends in fragrance by making this category a key focus of the Product Demonstration. Fragrance entrants in the Women’s Scent Mass, Women’s Scent Prestige and Men’s Scent categories will be showcased in a special display to feature overarching trends in fragrance while bringing to life the unique essence of each fragrance entrant. Fragrances will be curated by FIT’s Cosmetics & Fragrance Marketing undergraduate program.
CEW also announced its 2015 Eco Beauty Award Finalists. The award, presented by Givaudan, recognizes a brand that has demonstrated best practices and progress towards the goal of sustainability. The Eco Beauty Award was established to encourage the industry to take steps toward creating sustainable products. Finalists were vetted by The Natural Step, a non-profit global environmental education organization. The brands will present in front of an Eco Voting Committee, comprised of Givaudan executives, industry executives and selected CEW Board of Governors. The committee will select the winner, who will be announced at the Beauty Awards Luncheon.
