I’m definitely a CoverGirl groupie. After I fell in love with the LipPerfection lipsticks, I couldn’t wait to test out NatureLuxe Mousse Mascara and Intense ShadowBlast Eye Color.
In the lash department, CoverGirl’s NatureLuxe Mousse Mascara intrigued me because it was promoted as a natural mascara, with beeswax, carnauba wax and tapioca polymers as core ingredients. These are “lighter-feeling” alternatives, so the entire mascara experience is one of weightlessness.
True to its promise, the Mousse Mascara did not weigh my lashes down, but they give them both volume and lift. CoverGirl says that this mascara is 20% lighter than the most expensive volume mascara — hence the word “mousse.” I love the quality of the brush. It is as flexible as Mary Lou Retton, and the bristles are perfectly placed, almost resembling the stamen on a flower. There’s no clumping, and the wand glides easily over the lashes. It retails for $8.99 and I’m a fan. This comes in four shades.
The Intense ShadowBlast Eye Color (I’m wearing Platinum Pop in the picture below) is different in its applicator than the Smoky ShadowBlast that was introduced a few years ago. This is actually a liquid eye shadow, which took me a little by surprise, but it transforms into a smooth powdery finish. What I loved about this was the intensity and ease of use with the sponge-tip applicator (CoverGirl calls it a “felt tip” applicator, but it felt more like a sponge-like texture to me). The Intense ShadowBlast comes in six shades including Platinum Pop, Brown Bling, Blue Bomb, Beige Blaze, Extreme Green, Forever Pink and retails for $7.99.
I would take both of them on the road since they would transport and wear very well while traveling, and also on long days at the office (you can transition from day to evening without a problem).
