Last week I attended a special blogger preview of Prevention Magazine’s “Defy Your Age” Beauty Awards issue (Sept. 2009).
The Prevention team tested leading anti-aging products and came up with seven quality products that truly deliver visible results. Don’t you want to know what they are (and most importantly, don’t you want to WIN a set)?
The best part is that each of the winners really retails for under $50 making these a classic study in value (Wall Street is learning this — slowly).
Best Day Lotion with SPF: Olay ProX Age Repair Lotion SPF 30. $42 at drugstores
The Prevention team loved this lotion because it really smooths fine lines and firms skin by speeding up collagen production. It also diminished brown spots because of niacinamide, a B vitamin that improves hydration to boot.
Best Night Cream: Roc Multi-Correxion Night Treatment. $25 at drugstores
One tester said, “My skin seemed to glow in the morning.” You will see a diminishment in fine lines and brown spots thanks to ingredients like retinol and Vitamin C.
Best Lip Treatment: Lancome L’Absolu Rouge La Base Revitalizing Lip Treatment SPF 10 ($29; www.lancome-usa.com)
This is a lovely, elegant balm that plumps lips, removes fine lines and works overtime (results last for more than three hours, thanks to patented ingredient Pro-Xylane). Use it as a base before applying gloss or lipstick.
Best Microdermabrasion Treatment: Estee Lauder Idealist Dual-Action Refinishing Treatment ($49.50, www.esteelauder.com)
This skin polisher brightens instantly, and is a great “pre” before a great party. You’ll notice fewer pores with continued use, and also fewer lines and zits because this clever formulation also contains Salicylic Acid.
Best Adult Acne Treatment: Avon Clearskin Professional Acne Treatment
Well, we could have predicted this one. We are big fans of Avon Clearskin, which is a three part system including a scrub, a toner (medicated pads) and an oil-free lotion. The star in this product is, of course, salicylic acid, which kills bacteria, dries oil and unclogs pores. In a few weeks, testers experienced significantly fewer zits.
Best Hand Cream: Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Age Shield Hand Cream SPF 30 ($6, drugstores)
This inexpensive hand cream will keep hands hydrated all day, according to testers. There are some heavy-duty humectants at work here, and they attract and trap water into the skin. Plus the cream contains UV protection too.
Now, to the important part. How can you win a bag filled with these products? Simply leave a comment below on what your biggest anti-aging concern is. We’ll be picking a winner in a few weeks. Good luck!
